Attorney Michael W. Meltzer
Michael W. Meltzer is a seasoned immigration lawyer with extensive experience in all aspects of immigration law. He has practiced law for over 25 years and immigration law for nearly 20 years, and has an outstanding record in assisting clients achieve their immigration goals at reasonable cost. His experience includes obtaining permanent resident status ("green cards) through PERM labor certification, outstanding accomplishments in the arts, sciences, and athletics, or qualified family relationships; obtaining the right to work in the United States on a temporary basis through H-1B, L, E, TN and other nonimmigrant statuses; naturalization; visa processing at US Embassies abroad; asylum and TPS; employer sanctions (I-9 compliance); and removal defense and appeals.
Mr. Meltzer was a partner of a major Northwest Regional law firm for 10 years and headed their Immigration Practice Group. In 2000, Attorney Meltzer started his own law firm in order to provide his clients the highly personalized, cost effective representation that is not always possible in a large law firm environment. Currently, the firm's practice is limited to immigration law matters.
Mr. Meltzer is deeply committed to providing the legal advice clients need to make sound decisions on their immigration cases. He understands the critical importance of each case to the individuals involved and the frustrations and anxieties that clients have during the long process. In order to make the process as easy for clients as possible, Mr. Meltzer is highly accessible to clients and responds promptly to client inquiries by telephone and email. He takes a personal interest in every client and case and works zealously in helping every client accomplish his or her objectives.
Mr. Meltzer graduated from the Yale Law School, holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Williams College. He is active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has served on the Executive Committees of the Oregon State Bar Securities and International Law Sections and on the Oregon State Bar Legal Ethics Committee. Mr. Meltzer is fluent in Spanish and wrote immigration column for a Spanish newspaper has spoken on immigration topics at conferences and on Spanish television and radio.
